The Closer to Home Walking Network in Stoke-on-Trent simply wouldn't exist without our wonderful volunteers.

If you’d like to find out more about volunteering with the Network, what roles there are and how you could both contribute and benefit, take a look through the links on the right of the picture. Discover why a score of people already volunteer with Closer to Home walks and how you could be one of them.

What volunteer roles are there?

There's a volunteer role to suit everyone:

Volunteer walk leader: decides on the route and sets the pace
Back leader: makes sure no-one gets left behind or struggles with the pace
Assistant leader: an experienced walker who can accompany individuals on a shorter route
Volunteer administrator: helps enter registers of completed walks on the Walking for Health Database
All walking group members: help to promote the walks by using their contacts.
